Healing in a Supportive, Empowering Setting

Seeking Safety is an evidence-based, trauma-informed curriculum that helps individuals build coping skills and strengthen safety in their lives.

Developed by Dr. Lisa Najavits, this approach:

  • Focuses on practical tools to manage the effects of trauma and substance use.
  • Does not require participants to share detailed trauma stories.
  • Supports healing while honoring cultural practices and community strengths.

TeeJuh’s Seeking Safety group offers education, support, and healing for victims of crime impacted by trauma, violence, or substance use. These group uses  culturally grounded methods, for tribal communities. Each session includes structured topics such as:

  • Grounding.
  • Setting boundaries in relationships.
  • Self-compassion.
  • Creating a sense of safety in daily life while honoring cultural strengths, relational healing, and community context.

Participants are guided through interactive discussions and exercises that foster empowerment, confidence and connection, within a supportive, nonjudgmental environment.
